What Is Asphalt Sealcoating
Asphalt sealcoating is a preventive maintenance service that helps extend the lifespan of your paved surfaces. By applying a protective coating over your driveway, parking lot, or private road, sealcoating helps guard against damage caused by sunlight, moisture, oil spills, and fluctuating weather conditions.
Over time, asphalt naturally fades and becomes brittle. Sealcoating acts like a barrier, locking out harmful elements and slowing deterioration. It also revives the surface’s deep black finish, giving it a fresh, well-maintained appearance.
For residential properties, sealcoating improves curb appeal and prevents early cracking. For businesses, it helps reduce long-term repair costs while maintaining a clean, professional look.
Benefits of Sealcoating
Sealcoating is an essential part of protecting your pavement investment, it is just not about the appearance. Here is how sealcoating & crack repairs can deliver lasting value for both residential and commercial projects:
Extend the Life of Your Pavement
Sealcoating helps prevent early surface wear caused by sun exposure, rain, and vehicle traffic. It creates a protective layer that slows oxidation and keeps your asphalt flexible, reducing the chances of cracking, raveling, or premature breakdown.
Protection Against Damage
Water is one of the leading causes of asphalt damage. Sealcoating blocks moisture from seeping into small cracks, preventing them from expanding into potholes. It also repels oil, fuel, and other vehicle fluids that can soften and degrade asphalt over time.
Saves You Money Over Time
Routine sealcoating is a cost-effective way to avoid major repairs. Instead of facing expensive patching or resurfacing projects, homeowners and property managers can keep surfaces in better shape for a fraction of the cost.
Boosts Visual Appeal Instantly
Fresh sealcoat instantly restores the rich black color of asphalt, giving your property a cleaner, more maintained look. It boosts curb appeal for homes and creates a polished, professional impression for businesses.

What Is Crack Filling And Why You Shouldn’t Ignore It
Crack filling is a practical way to stop the damage early and protect your pavement for the long run. Cracks in your asphalt might seem small, but they can quickly lead to bigger problems like potholes, surface wear, or costly repairs.
If you own a home or manage a commercial property in Gainesville, Prince William County, addressing cracks early helps maintain a smoother surface and avoid bigger expenses later. Our crack repair process:

Our Proven 5-Step Asphalt Maintenance Process
1. Site Evaluation & Planning
We begin by inspecting your pavement to identify cracks, surface wear, and drainage issues. This helps us create a custom plan based on how the space is used and what it needs.
2. Cleaning & Preparation
We clear away debris, dirt, oil, and vegetation to make sure the surface is clean and ready for crack filling and sealcoating. Proper prep ensures the materials stick and last longer.
3. Crack Filling
We seal visible cracks using high-quality, hot-pour rubberized material. It flexes with your pavement and blocks moisture from getting underneath, helping prevent further damage.
4. Sealcoating Application
We apply a protective coating by brush to give your asphalt a smooth, dark finish. This layer protects the asphalt surface it from sun, oil, and damage by improving appearance and durability.
5. Curing & Final Touches
To allow proper curing we rope off the area. The surface is ready for walking in 4–6 hours and vehicle use in 24–48 hours. We also share care tips to help you keep your pavement in top shape.

I searched out some paving businesses and had Stephen come out after I looked into Gallaher. The reason I did in the first place was their focus on PREPARATION and DRAINAGE. Sure enough, that’s mostly what we discussed when he came out to quote the job. He told me exactly what the plan was for making the driveway hold in the extreme rains which washed out my gravel mess. He also told me about his experiences with other companies and how he came up — about the practices which he saw worked and what didn’t — and how he applied that to his company. He also said he would be at the job — doing the job — and that I should contact him should there be any issues. This is what I was after.
Preparing the driveway was day one of a three-day job. These guys went all day prepping the driveway. They probably brought in 3 or 4 dump truck loads of gravel and other rock just for the driveway base. Stephen and his crew cut the driveway for my main drainage pipe, shaped the sides up and down and worked in the gravel for the driveway with the skid steer. The most impressive part of day one was the rip rock install — this is the huge rock line in the picture. This was a 2 dump truck load and these dudes laid it by HAND. I think they went 8am to 7pm on day 1 — it was really something.
Day 2 continued with prep work.
Day 3 was paving day. If you haven’t seen this before you’ll be impressed. He brought in a supplemental crew to assist spreading and rolling the asphalt. This was another 3 or 4 dump truck loads. They wrapped this up in a few hours but not before cleaning up the edges and tidying up the road.
I am really happy with this job and this company. I appreciate how I was treated during the quote and how thorough Stephen was about what to expect. As far a the work, it was really well done and I’m really blown away by how much effort and attention to detail these guys put in. It must have been 90 degrees the whole time too. I’ve spoken with him since and he’s even come by the check on the drive since the install.
If you’re ready to pull the trigger on a paved driveway you should give Stephen a call. You won’t be disappointed!
